A few years ago, there was an article about a man who was sleepwalking. Typically, this doesn’t make the headlines. But what made the news in this instance was the fact that he woke up in a retention pond in his back yard. The retention pond had become home to a few alligators. Awakened by the cold water, he saw the alligators and fought them off with his walking cane and lived to tell the story! In ministry today, we are experiencing people, like this man walking in a dazed state, who need to be awakened with a fresh cup of cold water!

Our goal is to provide that refreshing cup of cold water that will awaken the down and out, the discouraged, and down-trodden by providing a refreshing cold drink of the Living Water that Jesus spoke about in John 4:10. The enemy that we wrestle against is, by far more dangerous than alligators. According to Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” As a result, we provide more than just a cane! We’re providing the powerful weapon that the writer of Hebrews talks about in Hebrews 4:1. We provide the Word of God, the Sword of the Spirit!
