On October 28, 1993, the U.S. Space Command tracked a two-ton chunk of Chinese satellite as it began to reenter Earth’s atmosphere. They had calculated the satellite would drop into the Pacific Ocean, 500 miles west of Baja, California. However, the vessel took an unexpected detour and landed in the Pacific Ocean west of Peru.
Sometimes, our lives are thrown for a tailspin and circumstances suddenly spiral beyond our control. We long to return to our established sense of normalcy. We long for the routine over the revolutionary, the planned over the impromptu.
Why does God insist upon having us experience comfort-zone-breaking dilemmas? Romans 5:3-4 sheds some light: And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.
The testing brings forth a blessing. And the experience it affords us better enables us to shoulder burdens which will follow. May we never forget that God is working through all our circumstances for our benefit.
Through Him by Whose grace we overcome,
Dr. L.W. Edwards
