Dr. Larry Edwards, the founder and pastor of Bibleway Ministries, is a man of God dedicated to the clear emphasis of the Gospel message. As a recipient of the wonderful grace of God, Dr. Edwards has stood firm on the Biblical teaching of the grace of God, which is alone responsible for man’s salvation.
Through various character-building experiences that have influenced him for Christ, Dr. Edwards has come to embrace Romans 8:28, which states, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Throughout his tenure at Bibleway Ministries, Dr. Edwards has clung to this verse and it has led him amidst times of tremendous blessing and carried him through times of dark adversity — all through which the Lord has demonstrated His great faithfulness and ever-present grace, proving Himself that Friend which sticketh closer than a brother.
Dr. Edwards received his Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University of Chicago in 1978, majoring in Business Administration. In 1984, he received his Master’s Degree, also from the Institute of Pastoral Studies, majoring in Pastoral Studies. In May of 2011, Dr. Edwards received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Dayspring Bible College & Seminary. In June of 2012, he earned his Doctorate of Religious Studies from Trinity Seminary and Bible School.
Most everyone can look back upon their childhood and remember at least one individual who made a significant contribution to their walk with Christ. Dr. Edwards’ major spiritual and social influence was his mother, who faithfully took him to church each week. Of all the godly training he received from his mother, her instruction to forever trust in the Lord has proven the most vital asset to his ministry.
Dr. Edwards’ preaching and teaching is both powerful and effective. Using the famed expository style of verse-by-verse teaching, he is known for making the Scriptures literally come alive. Through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, those who listen find insight, conviction and instruction on topics relevant to all areas of their personal experience. The heartbeat of his teaching lies in what he believes is the very heartbeat of God’s Word itself — the Person and redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
Dr. Edwards and Bibleway Ministries are members of the Independent Fundamental Churches of America (IFCA).
Our First Lady and co-founder here at Bibleway, Rebecca Edwards, is Dr. Edwards’ greatest advocate in the work of the Lord. She has an unsurpassed passion for reaching people for the ministry. Rebecca has served as choir director and song leader, mentored women and provided a tremendous encouragement to Dr. Edwards in the ministry. Her life passage is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Both Dr. and Mrs. Edwards share wholeheartedly our ministry focus: Making a difference — The Bible Way! They firmly believe that in reaching the community, they can reach the county, then the state, the nation, and ultimately the world with the effective presentation of the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
